Body Fat Calculator
Use our professional body fat calculator to go beyond the scale and understand your body composition.
Why track Body Fat?
Body fat percentage is a much better indicator of fitness than weight alone. It accounts for muscle mass, which is critical for metabolic health and metabolic longevity.
Professional Tip
Use a flexible tape measure. Take measurements twice and use the average for the highest precision in the U.S. Navy Method formula.
What is a body fat calculator?
A body fat calculator is a tool used to estimate the percentage of your total body weight that is composed of fat tissue. Unlike weight alone, which doesn't distinguish between muscle, bone, and fat, this metric provides a clearer picture of your internal health and fitness level.
How the calculator works
This tool uses the U.S. Navy Circumference Method, which is one of the most widely used and scientifically validated methods for estimating body composition without expensive laboratory equipment. It requires measurements of your height and circumferences of your neck and waist (and hips for females) to calculate your results instantly.
Healthy ranges and interpretation
Interpreting your body fat percentage depends on your gender and fitness goals. For men, a range of 14-17% is considered "fitness" level, while 18-24% is considered "average." For women, 21-24% is considered "fitness" and 25-31% is "average." Athletes often maintain lower percentages, but essential fat (2-5% for men, 10-13% for women) is necessary for physiological function.
